Germany Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte)
Launched in 2024, Germany’s Opportunity Card lets skilled professionals from non-EU countries (like India) come to Germany to find a job for up to 12 months. It is based on a point system and doesn’t require a pre-arranged job offer.
Eligibility Criteria:
You can qualify in two ways:
- Direct Qualification:
- Recognized degree
- German (A1) or English (B2) language skills
- Proof of funds or part-time job offer
- Points-Based System (minimum 6 points):
- Degree or qualification
- Language proficiency (German/English)
- Work experience
- Age (more points under 35)
- Previous time in Germany
- Relatives in Germany
- Other Requirements:
- Proof of finances: ~€12,324 in blocked account
- Health insurance

- Valid passport
- Degree certificate (plus recognition if applicable)
- Language test certificate (Goethe, IELTS, etc.)
- Updated CV + Motivation letter
- Proof of work experience
- Proof of financial means

Application Process:
- Check eligibility (direct or points)
- Prepare documents
- Submit application at German embassy/VFS
- Attend visa appointment

Visa Processing Time:
Typically 15–30 days from the submission of a complete application. Some visas are granted in as fast as 2 weeks, but delays can occur if the immigration office requests additional documents or health checks. Plan your application accordingly.
Visa Validity & Stay Duration:
12 months, renewable only by converting to a work visa after finding employment.
