Saudi Arabia Umrah Visa (For Indian Citizens Traveling for Pilgrimage)
The Umrah visa is a special visa issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to allow individuals to visit the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah for the purpose of performing the Umrah pilgrimage. It is separate from the Hajj visa and can be applied for throughout the year, except during the Hajj season. Indian citizens must apply through approved travel agents or tour operators. This visa does not allow employment or long-term stay in Saudi Arabia.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Valid Passport (minimum 6 months validity from the date of application)
- Confirmed Return Ticket
- Proof of Accommodation in Saudi Arabia (usually included in Umrah packages)
- Vaccination Certificate – specifically Meningitis (ACWY); COVID-19 vaccination may also be required as per latest guidelines
- Women under 45 must be accompanied by a family member (mahram) such as a husband, father, brother, or adult son
- Women aged 45 and above may travel with a group and a No Objection Certificate (NOC)
- Children can travel with guardians/parents with valid documentation
Types of Umrah Visa:
- Umrah Visa via Authorized Agent: The traditional visa issued through licensed tour operators, often bundled with accommodation and transport.
- Saudi eVisa (Tourist Visa): Citizens of certain countries are eligible to perform Umrah on a Saudi eVisa (not currently available for Indian citizens).
- Transit Visa (72–96 Hours): May allow short Umrah if stopover in Saudi Arabia is long enough and visa permits movement.
Required Documents:
- Valid passport (with at least 6 months validity)
- Recent passport-size photo (white background)
- Completed Umrah visa application form (handled by the agent)
- Confirmed return flight ticket
- Hotel booking confirmation (often part of the Umrah package)
- Vaccination certificate (Meningitis; and COVID if applicable)
- For women under 45: documents proving relationship with family member (e.g., marriage/birth certificate)
- PAN card or Aadhaar card (as ID proof if requested)
- For children: birth certificate
Application Process:
- Choose an Authorized Travel Agent
- Select an Umrah Package
- Submit Documents
- Make Payment
- Visa Processing: Takes around 5–7 working days
- Receive Visa & Itinerary
Visa Processing Time:
Typically 15–30 days from the submission of a complete application. Some visas are granted in as fast as 2 weeks, but delays can occur if the immigration office requests additional documents or health checks. Plan your application accordingly.
Visa Validity & Stay Duration:
- Usually valid for 15 to 30 days
- Single-entry only
- Permits travel to Makkah, Madinah, and transit through Jeddah
- Overstaying is strictly prohibited and may result in fines and entry bans
