UAE Tourist Visa (Dubai and Other Emirates)
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) – home to popular destinations like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah – requires most foreign visitors, including Indian nationals, to obtain a tourist visa before travel. UAE tourist visas are typically issued as electronic visas. There are multiple visa options depending on the length of stay (from a 48-hour transit visa up to a 60-day visit visa).
Indian citizens generally must apply in advance through a sponsor (such as an airline, hotel, or travel agency) for a UAE tourist visa. However, certain Indian passport holders are eligible for a UAE visa-on-arrival if they hold a valid US visa or Green Card, or a UK/EU residence permit. This visa-on-arrival is for 14 days and can be extended once for another 14 days. For all others, a pre-approved visa is mandatory.
UAE visas allow short stays for tourism, visiting family, or business meetings, and are usually issued online without needing to visit an embassy.
Types of UAE Tourist Visas:
- 48-hour Transit Visa: Valid for a short stay up to 2 days. Sponsored by airlines.
- 96-hour Transit Visa: Allows up to 4 days stay, also mainly for transit passengers.
